Working on updating your LinkedIn header image / banner for the new year? Here are a few messaging templates you might find useful.

Email to your marketing / brand team:

SUBJECT: LinkedIn Header / Banner Images?

BODY: Hi (TeamLead), as I'm working on updating my LinkedIn profile to help promote the (CompanyName) brand in 2025, I'd like to upload a (CompanyName) branded header to my profile.

Do we have a LinkedIn header image library? If so, how can I access it?

If not, I've heard about these guidelines from Brenda Meller (she's a marketing consultant and LinkedIn coach):

Images should be 1584x396px
Because your headshot photo appears in the lower left corner, they should avoid any important text on the lower left third of the graphic.

SUBJECT: LinkedIn Header / Banner Image Library - Reminder

BODY: Hi team, if you are active on LinkedIn for business networking, we'd like to remind you that it's a great way to support and promote the (CompanyName) brand in 2025, If you're open to doing so, we encourage you to consider uploading a (CompanyName) branded header to your profile. This is optional; but since LinkedIn is the largest professional networking site and naturally creates an affilation between you and your profession and employer, it's an accepted practice that many LinkedIn members follow.

Also, by using a (CompanyName) branded header, you are showing your support of our brand and our organization, while helping to build more brand awareness for (CompanyName) as you network with other industry professionals throughout the year.

If it's been a while since you changed your header image, keep in mind that it's a good practice to update it at least once a year, if not quarterly. Your LinkedIn network isn't notified of the header image change. Instead, profile visitors will only see the new header image if they visit your LinkedIn profile.

We have a LinkedIn header image library that you can access here: (add link to Intranet / folder). Some notes:

There are XX images in this library. You are free to select from any of these images, to the image that you like best.
We will add new images in here at least once a year, but perhaps more frequently. We'll email you if changes are made. In addition, we welcome your suggestions on header image designs. (We'll make sure they are brand compliant.)
Images are sized at 1584x396px, to fix the exact dimensions of the LinkedIn header space.
Because your headshot photo appears in the lower left corner, our header designs avoid any important text / images on the lower left third of the graphic.
You'll need to download first to your PC / laptop, then upload to your LinkedIn profile.
